As a business owner, you are an expert at what you do. At Madden Tax Service, I strive to be the expert at handling the tax matters of your business, so you can concentrate on what matters most – running your business.
When I sit down with a business owner for the very first time, I like to spend some time getting to know the lay of the land. What do you sell? What are your primary expenses? What equipment do you use in your business? What are your major roadblocks to being more profitable? Are there any areas of the tax code that we can take advantage of for your business?
Here is just a sampling of some other areas I investigate with my business owner clients:
- Depreciation: Can you deduct payments as an expense, or do you need to depreciate them?
- Employee versus contractor: Is the person who works for you a contractor, or do you need to treat her as an employee? If so, what does that mean? How do you know?
- Large purchases: If you plan on purchasing an expensive piece of equipment for your business, should you purchase it now, or should you wait until next year? Are there any tax advantages to either option?
- Can you use a prior year’s business loss to offset some of this year’s profit?
- Saving for retirement: Are there retirement savings options available that can also provide you with a nice tax deduction?
- Rental properties: How should you depreciate the property and its contents? What can be deducted as an expense, and what should be depreciated?
- Is your business properly structured to best take advantage of the tax code?
- Tax planning: Are there any changes that we can make going forward, that may save you time and money in future tax years?
I would enjoy the opportunity to sit down with you and discuss the services I offer to my business owner clients. Just give me a call!
